The G’s

Halloween musical selections that I have complied over the years. Updated 2017.

The G category is thin you would think was more over the years with the word Ghost…

Anyway again it is a wide variety with lots of styles represented:  some kids, some scary, some funny, some gross, and some just damn weird.

Try these:

Ghost Piano Trio (1809) was composed during Beethoven’s stay at Countess Marie von Erdödy’s estate, and dedicated to her for her hospitality. The All-Music Guide states that “because of its strangely scored and undeniably eerie-sounding slow movement, it was dubbed the “Ghost” Trio. The ghostly music may have had its roots in sketches for a Macbeth opera that Beethoven was contemplating at the time.

Ghost by Michael Jackson is just a great video

Of course you must listen to The Great Pumpkin Waltz by Vince Guaraldi from “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”. It is just cannot be Halloween without Linus waiting up for the Great Pumpkin.

Grim Grinning Ghosts is the theme to the Haunted Mansion ride was updated in 1996 by Barenaked Ladies, kind of an ironic twist there, an erotic band name for a family amusement park.

Another good selection is Grohg by Aaron Copland. This is a necromantic ballet influenced by the film Nosferatu. (the first selection  in both below is the Grohg)

Gravedigger by Willie Nelson
